Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts are hemp seeds from the hemp plant. They are high in protein, fat & have a mild nutty taste. Their crunchy texture makes them the perfect addition to top salads, shakes/smoothies, cereal and many other dishes.

Hemp hearts are 30% fat and are high in omega-6 & omega-3. They are packed with 25% protein. That is a higher amount of protein compared to other similar food varieties, such as chia seeds. Hemp hearts can be eaten raw or cooked. They are also high in both insoluble and soluble fiber.

They also have a high vitamin & mineral content that includes vitamin E, calcium, zinc, iron & potassium. Another nutritional and health benefit is that they contain an amino acids called arginine. That may help reduce heart disease. Hemp hearts also contain gamma-linolenic acid which can help reduce inflammation & heart disease. The vitamin E content can help soften skin and hair.

Hemp hearts are a complete protein, meaning they contain all of the essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are not produced by the body and need to be consumed in food. Often it is difficult to find woods that contain all of the essential amino acids together. This is a naturally occurring source of complete protein without being modified in a food lab. What better way for your body to be nourished!

A wonderful aspect about Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts is that the protein is plant-based and perfect for diets such as vegetarian, vegan, soy-free and low FODMAP. As a person on those diets due to IBS I know how challenging it can be to consume adequate protein. I love that Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts meets my protein needs.

I enjoy eating my Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts blended in my protein shakes, sprinkled on salads & mixed into almond butter. I really like the subtle taste & texture. It's nice to have a food that has quality nutrition & covers a lot of bases with the vitamins, minerals & protein. I like that is blends easily into the protein drink. On salads, it adds a light texture without being too crunchy or taking away from the salad's flavor. In fact, I found it to really enrich the flavor or anything combined to the hemp hearts.

Pros:
High fiber
High protein
High omega-6 & omega-3
Blends well
Pleasant flavor
Easy to mix in or make a topping

Cons:
None
